Botrytis seldom infects stems, but can attack late in the growing season and may form small, black bodies (sclerotia) on affected tissues. Lesions appear water-soaked. Cool, rainy weather favours the spread of the pathogen. Ensure gardens receive sufficient air movement to dry plants during the day.
