Green mould (penicillium mould) attacks the bulbs of garlic and can result in poor emergence and growth as well as storage rots. It appears as a blue-green mould at the base of the bulb. Green mould enters fields through the use of diseased bulbs for planting. When these disease bulbs are cracked, air-borne spores are released, infecting healthy plants in the field.
