Botrytis grey mould

Botrytis grey mould affects numerous fruits and vegetables including strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and other fruit crops. Because it is a weak pathogen, it is a more serious disease in crops with soft, fleshy fruit – strawberries, raspberries, and tomatoes. Lesions begin as a water-soaked spot, later becoming soft and watery.  A film of grey fungus covers the infected area and produces spores. In proper conditions (humid and cool), spores can begin infection on healthy fruit within hours.
