Aphids are small, soft-bodied, winged or wingless insects that suck plant sap.
There are many different kinds of aphids and many different colours including red, pink, brown, yellow, green, purple or black. Worldwide there are almost 4000 identified species with over 600 in Canada. Damage consists of rolled leaf edges, discouloration of leaves, and sticky leaf surfaces. Some species are also known to transmit different plant viruses.
