Two-spotted spider mite

This important pest of fruit trees is around 0.4 mm in size and is a translucent orange.  They feed on the underside of leaves by piercing the cell wall and sucking out the plant juices. White spots will usually appear close to the center of the leaf, or the leaves may turn brown and fall off.   The two-spotted spider mite inhibits plant growth and stunts the size and quality of the fruit. Hot and dry conditions will increase occurence of damage.
