Kochia is an annual weed. Its leaves are linear with a pointed tip and long soft hairs. Young leaves emerge almost simultaneously to form a rosette. Seedlings emerge early in spring. It grows on a variety of soil types and is often found on alkaline/saline soils.
There are several biotypes resistant to Group 2 herbicides in Western Canada.
