Option 1.2.3.

Application & Benefits

Overview

  • Early post-emergence, one-pass corn herbicide
  • Economical and effective weed control
  • Contact and season-long residual control of grassy and broadleaf weeds applied at the one- to three-leaf stage of corn
  • Three active ingredients with three different modes of action – foramsulfuron (Option Liquid – Group 2), flufenacet (Define – Group 15) and atrazine (Group 5)
  • Atrazine is a required tank-mix partner but must be purchased separately
Timing
Apply from the one- to three-leaf stage of corn

Rate
Option Liquid 0.27 L/ac
Define 0.31 L/ac
atrazine 0.71 L/a

Application Tips

  • Mixing order: Define (in slurry), then Option Liquid, then atrazine, then 28% UAN
  • For maximum safety, avoid application during > 30 ºC. Spray at least 24 hours before or following near frost conditions (5 °C or less).
  • Follow seed company recommendation charts for hybrid sensitivity to sulfonylurea herbicides/ALS inhibitors
  • If application is made too early, soil components do all the work controlling the weeds emerging after application and benefits of the foliar components are lost
  • If application is made too late, weeds may be too large to be controlled
  • Should not be applied on soil with less than 2% organic matter
