Velocity m3 FAQ

  • What is Velocity m3?
  • Velocity m3 has three modes of action including two new chemistries all in one solution. It is a complete grassy and broadleaf herbicide comprised of three active ingredients:

    1. thiencarbazone-methyl (Group 2)
    2. pyrasulfotole (Group 27)
    3. bromoxynil (Group 6)
  • How many acres does one case treat?
  • One case treats 20 acres, the new All-In-One formulation treats 40 acres/case.
  • What is an "All-In-One" formulation?
  • The "All-In-One" is a new formulation innovation which contains both grassy and broadleaf chemistries pre-mixed in one jug.
  • Do I need to add an adjuvant to Velocity m3?
  • No, Velocity m3 is one solution, nothing additional is required.
  • Do I need to add AMS for enhanced cleaver control?
  • No, AMS is not required for cleaver control with Velocity m3.
  • Does Velocity m3 control Round-leaved mallow?
  • Yes, Velocity m3 has now received registration to control Round-leaved mallow.
  • What weeds will Velocity m3 control?
  • Wild oats, Green foxtail, Barnyard grass, Canary seed, Annual sow-thistle, Chickweed, Cleavers, Common ragweed, Flixweed, Hemp-nettle, Kochia, Lamb’s-quarters, Pale smartweed, Redroot pigweed, Round-leaved mallow, Russian thistle, Shepherd’s purse, Stinkweed, Volunteer canola, Wild buckwheat, Wild mustard and suppression of Canada thistle, Dandelion, Perennial sow-thistle, Persian darnel, Japanese brome and Yellow foxtail.
  • Will Velocity m3 control my resistant weeds?
  • Yes, Velocity m3 will control both Group 1 resistant wild oats and Group 2 resistant broadleaf weeds such as kochia, chickweed and cleavers.
  • What crops can I plant the year following an application of Velocity m3?
  • Alfalfa, barley, canary seed, canola, field corn**, flax, oats, field peas*, soybeans**, sunflowers and wheat (spring or durum) can be planted 10 months following an application of Velocity m3. Lentils can be planted back 22 months following an application of Velocity m3.

*Field peas may be grown the year following Infinity Herbicide application in all Black, Grey-Wooded and Dark Brown soil zones. Do not plant field peas the year following an Infinity application in the Brown soil zone where organic matter content is below 2.5% and where soil pH is above 7.5%.
    **MB only.
  • Can I plant back to sunflowers the following year?
  • Yes, Bayer CropScience has just received notification from the PMRA indicating that recropping to sunflowers is eligible for registration.
  • What is the rainfast period?
  • One hour.
  • What crop stage can Velocity m3 be applied to?
  • 1-6 leaf stage up to 3 tillers, but prior to jointing (the appearance of the first node). Optimum weed control, crop tolerance and crop yield will be obtained when Velocity m3 is applied at the 3 leaf to 1 or 2 tiller stage of the crop and weeds.
  • What is the mixing order?
  • Velocity A followed by Velocity B; it is not required to add all of the Velocity A jugs prior to adding all of the Velocity B jugs. Add Velocity A to a significant quantity of water in the chem handler or to a flowing stream of water in the chem handler. A gel may occur if Velocity A is added to a very small amount of water in the chem handler. If a gel substance is noticed, simply wash the gel back into solution with a flowing stream of water.
  • When using Velocity m3 All-In-One, simply add the product to water.
  • What is the recommended water volume?
  • Ground 5-10 US gal/ac (minimum of 19L/ac).
  • Air a minimum of 3 gal/ac (minimum of 11L/ac).
  • Are there any temperature restrictions when applying Velocity m3?
  • There are no temperature restrictions to apply Velocity m3 within. However, proper agronomics are still applicable (IE do not apply to a plant stressed by temperature and wait 2-3 days after a frost). Group 2 chemistry does take more time to work than Group 1 chemistry, this is more noticeable under prolonged, cool conditions. For this reason we encourage and promote an application of Velocity m3 at early stages of crop development.
  • Can you tank-mix Stratego with Velocity?
  • Yes.  Stratego can be tank-mixed with Velocity m3 on spring wheat only. Some temporary crop phyto symptoms may be observed following application of this tank mix. Do not apply this tank-mix to durum wheat.
