Agriculture students receive InVigor Anniversary Scholarships

Calgary, Alberta (November 2008) Six students from the University of Saskatchewan have each been awarded a $1000 InVigor Anniversary Scholarship for 2008.

“We are so pleased to be contributing to the education of these agriculture students. They are truly the future of our industry,” says Rod Merryweather, North American Oilseeds Business Operations Manager, Bayer CropScience.

In 2007, InVigor canola celebrated its 10 year anniversary and the University of Saskatchewan celebrated its centennial. In recognition of these milestones, Bayer CropScience initiated the InVigor Anniversary Scholarships. This is the second year of the three-year program, where students in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources vie for one of the scholarships. All applicants were asked to submit an essay on a topic regarding the evolution of the canola industry.

Six students were selected to receive the scholarship and they are:

  • Colby Sproat – Kipling, SK
  • Travis Neufeld – Dorintosh, SK
  • Kelsey Suttie – Hanley, SK
  • Roberta Templeton – Coaldale, AB
  • Katie MacMillan – Asquith, SK
  • Giselle Ulrich – Spalding, SK

“We want to congratulate the scholarship recipients and commend them on their hard work and wish them all the best as they move into careers in agriculture,” says Merryweather.
