Demonstration Strip Trials: 2008 Regional
Since 1997, Bayer CropScience has conducted Demonstration Strip Trials (DSTs), the most comprehensive side-by-side canola trial program in Western Canada to measure yield performance under across a variety of environmental and local conditions.
Each DST location has eight to ten strips of at least 35 feet wide x 500 feet long, replicated twice. Strips are seeded and grown side-by-side under identical soil, moisture, climatic conditions and agronomic practices to provide meaningful results. All DSTs are farmer-managed.
The following series of charts provides the specific 2008 DST results on an overall Western Canada-wide basis as well as by region. The regional yield results are measured against the check InVigor® 5020, one of the new standards in the Canola Council of Canada`s Prairie Canola Variety Trials (PCVT).

When it comes to performance, the DST results echo what canola growers across Western Canada have seen for 12 years and the Canola Council of Canada’s PCVTs have also shown for the past five years.
